The top rated luxury SUV's are beautiful, powerful and pricey. Do your homework, go for some test drives and carefully weigh your options before you decide to buy one. This investment is along the lines of the purchase of a new home. There are smaller, more affordable crossovers or "CUV's" that you might want to consider, too. They are equally luxurious, roomy enough for most families and a little easier on the wallet.
Are all luxury SUVs gas guzzlers?
The Bentayga is a bit of a gas guzzler. It gets only 10-12 mpg city and 18-19 mpg highway. This should come as no surprise, though, considering the size of its 600 hp engine. The Range Rover is a little better on gas, although it is still a bit thirsty. You can expect to get 17-22 mpg in the city and 23-29 mpg on the highway in the V-6 Supercharged model. The full-size luxury Range Rover's mileage is surprisingly comparable to smaller CUV's.
What financing options are there?
If you are going to get financing for one of these luxury SUVs, you need to be prepared for a substantial monthly payment. For example, an $85,000 2017 Range Rover will require a payment of about $1,600 per month. The final figures will vary, of course, depending on the final numbers and interest rate. Dealers always have financing options available. Find out what they can do for you before you look elsewhere. They can usually get you the best deal. Car dealerships have financing institutions on speed-dial who do financing for them all of the time. They aren't always the best deal in town, though, so check around. Get the figures and do a search online to see who's offering the best financing deals. Ask the institution where you do your banking what financing options they offer. You might be pleasantly surprised.
How much do luxury SUVs cost?
The Bentley Bentayga has the biggest price tag, as you probably guessed. The Bentayga W12 AWD starts out at around $230,000 while the W12 First Edition starts at $300,000. The Range Rover is far more affordable with a price range of about $85,000 to almost $200,000 for the SVAutobiography model. If you don't really need a big, full-size luxury SUV, and your budget isn't quite that roomy, you might want to check into a luxury "CUV" or crossover. They are basically vehicles with a car chassis and SUV-type body styles and features. I don't think you would want actually to take them off-roading, but how many people really want to do that with their luxury vehicle, anyway. These smaller CUV's are less than half the price of the full-size SUV's. The 2017 BMW X3, for example, can be had for just $40,000 to $50,000 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Class can be had for $40,000 to $45,000. Both are excellent luxury vehicles that received the Editor's Choice nod from Car and Driver. The BMW X3 got a 4 out of 5 rating from Motor Trend, and they loved the Mercedes-Benz GLC Class CUV so much that they made it SUV of the year.
What are some of the best features of the newest luxury SUVs?
The Bentayga W12 AWD has plenty of bells and whistles. Standard features include full-time all-wheel drive, transmission with driver selectable mode/sequential shift control with steering wheel controls and an oil and engine cooler. It also comes with battery-rundown protection, 4-corner auto-leveling suspension, gas-pressurized shock absorbers and the list goes on and on. It will practically pour your coffee for you in the morning. Oh, and if you really want to take this beautiful luxury SUV off the road, you go right ahead. Car and Driver took a Bentayga to the Easter Jeep Safari at the Colorado Plateau, Moab, and put it through its paces. It easily kept up with the most beefed-up, hard-core, lifted and enhanced 4-wheel-drives out there. Of course, the driver stayed comfortable, sitting in a seat that will keep you cool or warm and massage your back. He didn't even have to get out of the vehicle to adjust the suspension between "Dirt and Gravel" or "Mud and Trail." If you are looking for a luxury SUV that is a true Sports Utility Vehicle, you can't get more luxury or sport than this. The Range Rover has plenty of bells and whistles, too. Some of the highlights include a new and improved infotainment system with a 10.2-inch touch screen mounted right on the dashboard. There are several engine types to choose from: the V-6 340 hp, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 with 254 hp or the 5.0-liter supercharged V-8, which can give you 510 hp or 550 hp. The 2017 Range Rover is available in a standard length or long wheelbase. It also comes with some great standard features like 4-corner auto-leveling suspension, an automatic with driver control height adjustable automatic ride control adaptive suspension, full-time 4-wheel drive, hill descent control and hill hold control, just to name a handful.
What are the best luxury SUVs?
Bentley Bentayga and Land Rover's Range Rover are the top luxury SUVs for this year. The Bentayga is absolutely loved by all the experts who have tested it. The only consistent negative is the price tag but, hey, it's a Bentley. The Range Rover is an excellent luxury SUV with a substantially more affordable price tag.
Which are the top rated luxury SUV models?
The Bentley Bentayga is one of the top rated luxury SUVs. It won Car and Driver's Editor's Choice Award, and Motor Trend says it is all good, and I quote, "It's the Bentley of SUVs." The Land Rover Range Rover also got the 2017 Car and Driver's Editor's Choice Award. Motor Trend didn't like the Range Rover quite as much as the Bentayga, though, giving it only a 3.5 out of 5 rating. They like the luxury of the Range Rover along with its elegant design and "Go-anywhere capability." They think it is over-priced, though and its build quality isn't quite as good as it should be.
