Introducing Audi's New Q4 SUV

New for 2019, the Audi Q4 is the latest addition to Audi's extensive line of SUVs. Designed to compete with the BMW X2 and the Range Rover Evoque, the Q4 will be at car dealers in the UK and elsewhere around the globe in mid-2019. There are no plans to sell this vehicle in the United States. The five-seat, sporty compact SUV will have have a curved, aerodynamic look and fill that niche between Audi's Q3 and Q5.

What do you know about the Q4's engine?

The Q4 is expected to have a 2.0L, four-cylinder gas engine as well as a 2.0L, four-cylinder diesel engine. Buyers can also upgrade to a 2.5L, five-cylinder gas engine. Rumors abound that a plug-in hybrid or a full-electric version of this vehicle may be in the pipeline.

What is the Q4's transmission expected to be like?

The entry-level Q4 will have a six-speed manual transmission and front wheel drive. Higher level models will have a dual clutch, automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive.

What colors will be available for the Q4?

Not all colors have yet been announced, but promotional material shows the vehicle in red, yellow, blue, orange, white, black and silver paint.

What is the price of the Q4?

No firm price has yet been published, but the starting price is expected to be around £29,000. That is the equivalent of $38,250. Audi's SUVs are covered by a five-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and a four-year/50,000 warranty on the powertrain.

What is the Q4's cockpit expected to look like?

Like other Audi interiors, the Q4 is expected to be very "tech-friendly," with a 9.2" touchscreen that includes navigation, gesture controls, wireless charging, a built-in WiFi hotspot and a host of connectivity options.

Do you know any of the specs for the Q4?

Not a lot is known so far about the Q4. However, we do know that the Q4 will be built using a VW MQB platform, the same platform used for the Q3, and have off-road capabilities. In addition, the vehicle is expected to go from zero to 60 in 5.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph.

Any information about the exterior of the Q4?

The Q4 will likely look similar to the Q3 and the Q5 SUVs, with a slightly sporty look. The photos that have been released show a wing-mounted spoiler on the back, redesigned alloy wheels and a higher, more aggressive-looking front grill.

What about the interior?

The interior is expected to be similar to the Q3, with a slightly sportier look, especially in the seats. Features of the Q3's interior include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a tilt steering wheel, ambient LED lighting and a leather-wrapped shift knob.

I've been hearing about this car for several years; why isn't it available yet?

Two factors have delayed production of the Q4. First, Audi had to acquire the rights for the name "Q4" from Fiat and then they had to iron out some problems with diesel emissions in the vehicle's diesel engine design.

Where is Audi going to manufacture the Q4?

The Audi Q4 will be built at the company's assembly plants in Germany and Hungry.

What is the gas mileage expected to be for the Q4?

Audi has stated the gas mileage for the Q4 with the basic gasoline engine is expected to be 14 kilometers per liter of gas. That translates to around 33 mpg.

Do you know anything about safety features for the Q4?

No information has been released specifically about safety features for the Q4. However, the Audi Q3 has received a "good" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and includes safety features like five airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, brake assist and child safety locks. It is likely that the Q4 will have a similar suite of safety features.
