The 2018 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2018 Pathfinder continues to maintain its reputation as a good, mid-sized SUV for everyday road travel. It still isn't the best SUV for people who want to take it off-road, though. It might be a little too low for that. Two safety features which were only available options on the 2017 Pathfinder are now standard across all trim levels. They aren't exciting safety features but are nice to have. Nissan also made the handsome Midnight Edition package available on an additional trim level.

How many 2018 Pathfinder models are there?

Nissan is offering the 2018 Pathfinder in four different models: the Pathfinder S, Pathfinder SV, Pathfinder SL and Pathfinder Platinum. Front-wheel drive is standard on all four models, but Nissan's Intelligent 4x4 or All-wheel drive is an available option. The Midnight Edition package, which was only available on the Platinum model in 2017, is now an available option on the SL, too.

Is the 2018 Pathfinder a fuel-efficient SUV?

The new FWD Pathfinder gets 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. If you go with the AWD option, your gas mileage will be 1 mpg less in the city and on the highway.

What new safety features come standard on the 2018 Pathfinder?

Nissan has made their Forward Emergency Brake feature standard on all 2018 Pathfinder models. This feature alerts the driver to a possible front collision with an audible alert and light-up visual alert. Does the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder have any new hi-tech infotainment features?

The 2018 Pathfinder comes with basically the same infotainment system as the 2017 models. It includes an AM/FM/CD audio system with six speakers, Bluetooth streaming audio, MP3/WMA CD playback ability, a Radio Data System and an Auxiliary audio input jack. They did add four more USB connection ports, though, for a total of six. The Pathfinder Platinum comes with a Bose Premium 13-speaker audio system with Acoustic Waveguide technology.

How good are the 2018 Pathfinder safety ratings?

The 2018 Nissan Pathfinder hasn't been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) yet. The 2017 Pathfinder did quite well, though, and, since they didn't actually change anything, it is safe to assume that the 2018 Pathfinder will get the same ratings.
