The 2018 RX is Lexus' sporty-looking, mid-size, luxury crossover SUV. The front end has a slightly futuristic flair, and the enormous grille makes it look a bit like the Cheshire cat that swallowed the Bald Eagle, and why shouldn't it? Lexus has done very well with this CUV. They've only added a few new options for 2018, but they are good ones. Is there a 2018 Lexus RX hybrid?

The Lexus RX 450h is the hybrid RX model. It comes in two trim levels - the regular 450h and the 450h F Sport.

How many trim levels are available for the 2018 RX?

There are a total of four trim levels for the 2018 RX. They include the two-hybrid trims, the basic RX 350 and the RX 350 F Sport. The F Sport models have a distinctive black mesh grille.

What is new for the 2018 RX?

You can get a Blind Spot Monitoring System and a sunroof with the lowest RX trim levels. A new Premium Package is available for the 2018 RX 450h, which includes leather seats, wood trim, a rear armrest with a storage box, rain-sensing wipers, roof rails and a Lexus Memory System. Enform Service Connect and Enform Safety Connect are free for ten years.

What type of hi-tech infotainment features does the 2018 RX have?

The new RX comes with Lexus Display Audio, which includes an 8" color display multimedia screen, a nine-speaker stereo system, HD Radio, Bluetooth audio, an aux. minijack, two USB ports and Scout GPS Link with turn-by-turn directions.

You can upgrade your RX with a Rear-Seat Entertainment System Package. That includes a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system and wireless headphones. You do have to get the 60/40-split power-folding heated rear seats to get the Rear-Seat Entertainment System Package, though. You can also buy the Navigation/Mark Levinson Premium Audio Package, which comes with a 15-speaker Premium Surround Sound Audio System, Navigation System, an in-dash DVD/CD player, and Lexus Enform App Suite.

How much does the 2018 Lexus RX hybrid cost?

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) have not been officially announced yet. It is believed that the MSRP for the RX 350 is will remain unchanged for 2018. Lexus hasn't said anything about the MSRP for the 450h. More than likely, the 2018 models won't cost much more than the 2017 models. The price tag on a 2017 RX 450h base trim starts out at $53,035. The 450h F Sport has a base price of $56,495. The RX 350 base price is $43,220 for the Front-Wheel Drive model and $44,620 for the All-Wheel Drive model. An RX 350 F Sport model starts out at $49,120 for the FWD model and $50,520 for the AWD model.

Can you get All-Wheel Drive on the 2018 RX?

The RX350 and the RX 350 F Sport are available in either AWD or FWD. The RX 450h only comes in AWD.

Is the new RX fuel efficient?

All of the mileage numbers aren't in yet. However, Lexus has announced that the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the FWD 2018 RX 350 will get 27 mpg on the highway. The RX 450h is expected to get a combined 30 mpg.

Does the RX have lots of cargo space?

The 2018 Lexus RX has a respectable amount of cargo space for a mid-sized crossover. The RX 350 has 18.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row of seats when they are in place. With the seats folded flat, it has 56.3 cubic feet of space. The RX 450h has a little less cargo area because of the extra room required for the hybrid powertrain. It still has 18 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and 55.9 cubic feet with the seats folded down, though.

Did the new RX get good crash test scores?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn't tested the 2018 RX yet, but the 2017 RX tested very well. It was given the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has had the opportunity to test the 2018 RX. The RX 350 AWD and RX 450h were both given an Overall Rating of five out of five stars. The RX350 FWD got an Overall Rating of four out of five stars.

What kind of motor does the new Lexus RX have?

The 2018 Lexus RX 350 comes with a 3.5-L V6 engine that produces 295 hp. It also has an eight-speed ECT-I or Electronically Controlled Transmission with intelligence. The RX 450h comes with Lexus' Hybrid Drive, 3.5-L V6 engine, Motor Generators 1 and 2 and an eCVT or electronic continuously variable transmission. The hybrid engine produces a total of 308 hp.
