The 2019 McLaren Senna is arguably the most exhilarating road-legal race car. Bearing the name of Ayrton Senna; an F1 driver who drove for the company between 1988 and 1993. It comes with an aggressive design that offers fresh aerodynamic features as well as a styling inspired by the 720S and the P1. A 789 HP V8 engine powers the Senna and it has a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. It is the ultimate car to go around in circles very quickly. There will be a production limit of 500 units, and it starts at £750,000. This car belongs in a comic book because it has the speed of The Flash and the strength of The Incredible Hulk.
What is the history behind it?
Between the 1960s and the 1980s, McLaren was known as an outstanding race car builder. Eventually, the automaker launched the road-legal F1 in the early 1990s. This car was very successful, becoming an instant icon in the world of supercars. It introduced new features like carbon-fiber construction in the market. In 2013, McLaren launched the P1 which was the replacement of the F1 (it was first seen at the Geneva Motor Show.) The 2019 McLaren Senna which is also known as the P15 is not a hybrid and it marks a new era in the McLaren Ultimate Series. The Senna is not a direct successor of the P1; the Senna represents a new generation of Mclaren supercars.
How does it look?
The styling of the 2019 McLaren Senna gives a new meaning to the word “extreme” because it takes things to a new level that was not reached by the 720S and the P1. It boasts of a massive rear wing, teardrop shape, and organic styling cues. Unlike previous McLaren designs, the front fascia has very different aerodynamics. Everything is new apart from the slim headlamps and the P1-inspired split hood that is more aggressive than before. It has a bigger underneath intake and a more angular nose. The nose looks like it is floating over the splitter because of the vents below the headlamps. You’ll be feeling like Lewis Hamilton when you speed off in this car because it has the looks of IndyCar and Formula One vehicles – it is narrowed between the rear and the front fenders.
What are the highs and lows?
Let’s start with the good news, the 2019 McLaren Senna delivers an astonishing 789 horsepower, it has minimal weight of only 2,641 pounds and massive downforce. On the other hand, you’ll be bored to death to find out that the Sienna has already been sold out. Even worse, it is unlikely that you’ll purchase this car from someone because it is unlikely to depreciate. I guess we’ll just have to feast with our eyes.
What does the interior offer?
The Sienna offers Folding Drive Display, F1-inspired doors, racing seats, Carbon-fiber features, storage for racing suits and helmets as well as a clutter-free dashboard. From the outside, it looks like Batman’s aircraft since it has a wing and other stuff that make it look like it will fly at any time. The inside confirms the idea of an aircraft because it looks like a cockpit!
What does the future hold?
The McLaren Ultimate Series will move in three different directions as the automaker tries to capitalize on its popularity. McLaren will be milking the pockets of the stinking rich like a Texas farmer milks his Friesian cows. I hear you asking how they will do it. The company will continue with the hybrid P1 brand that offers top-notch technology and a shocking 903 horsepower. Their second weapon is the super-fast Sienna. Finally, they will introduce a grand tourer called the BP23; this three-seater will be faster or as fast as the F1’s 240 mph.
Does it have any rivals?
We couldn’t find any cars that match up to what the Sienna offers. The market has some supercars like the Bugatti Chiron and Ferrari 812 Superfast, but they will only see the Sienna’s butt if they are put on a track together. The Aston Martin Vulcan is the only vehicle that can compete with the Sienna, but it is not road legal. This means that the 2019 McLaren Senna is the king of all the super-fast beasts.
