You could own one of these limited-edition Challengers for about $8,500 down and $1,400 per month. Here are the answers to some of the questions you may have about this rare Challenger SRT.
Is the Challenger Demon really the fastest car in the world?
It isn't actually the fastest production car in the world, but it comes darn close. The Hennessey Venom GT is the fastest car in the world. The Demon is faster on acceleration, though. It does a quarter mile in 9.65 seconds. That isn't a typo. A quarter mile in less than 10 seconds. Need to reach 60 mph really, really fast? The Demon goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds. It gets to 30 mph in 1 second.
Does the Challenger Demon really pull more G-force than any other car?
Yes, it does. You might want to do some training with the Blue Angels before you get behind the wheel. The Demon pulls 1.8 G's. That is the highest G-force of any production car. Just to put that number into perspective, most people pass out at 4 to 5 G's.
Do I have to get special training to drive the Demon?
You don't have to complete special training or get a special driver's license to buy a Challenger Demon, but it's a good idea. In fact, Dodge thinks it is such a good idea that they give a one-day training session at the Bob Bondurant Driving School to everyone who buys a Demon.
What kind of engine does the Demon have?
The Challenger SRT Demon comes very well equipped with a 6.2-L HEMI Demon V8. This engine produces 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque. Dodge accomplished this level of power by using a bigger blower to push the pressure up to 14.5 PSI and increasing the fuel flow rate with an additional dual-stage fuel pump. They keep the engine cool with three air sources plus an air conditioning system that cools the air used to cool the engine. The Demon also comes equipped with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.
Can the Dodge Demon really lift the front wheels?
The Demon actually lifted the front wheels 2.92 feet at the starting line of a drag strip. That's a record that went into the Guinness Book of Records. The 2018 Challenger SRT Demon is the only production car that can get front wheel lift at all, let alone almost 3 feet of air.
Is the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon too fast for the race track?
Sort of. The Demon is banned from NHRA races because it does the quarter mile in under 9.99 seconds. So, a Challenger SRT Demon, straight from the factory, cannot be used in an NHRA race because it is too fast. The letter from NHRA Vice President-Technical Operations Glen Gray said, "The car exceeded our limits of 9.99-seconds and 135 mph. Therefore, it must be brought into compliance with the rules and regulations found in Section 4 of the NHRA Rulebook." If you want to drive the Demon in an NHRA-sanctioned race, you'll have to install a certified roll cage, aftermarket driver restraint system, window net, master cut-off switch and driveshaft loop. You'll also have to wear NHRA-accepted clothing.
