What You Missed in the Frankfurt Motor Show

The Frankfurt Motor Show was as spectacular as ever; it was a showcase of the best cars that automakers had been working on. Did you know that it is also called the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung? It was first held in 1897, making it one of the world’s oldest and largest motor shows. In 1961, the event attracted a record crowd of 950,000 people who had come to see the legendary BMW 1500 and the seat belt. Over the years, this show has been used to showcase many jaw-dropping automotive concepts and production vehicles. The Germans organize this show and therefore it is no surprise that Frankfurt’s stands are normally occupied by brands like Volkswagen, Mercedes, and BMW. The last show was marked by the launch of various concepts and models. Grab some popcorn and let’s take a look at the best cars that were on displayed.

152018 BMW X7

The 2018 BMW X7 is going for the neck of the Range Rover. In the event, it was identified as the X7 iPerformance concept. Although it was presented as a concept, it has been introduced with the intention of dominating the premium 4x4 market. It has a price of around £70,000. It comes with options of a plug-in variant, petrol and diesel engines. The X7 is large, with a slab-back rear end and an enlarged kidney grille. It can be described as both elegant and imposing. The X7’s styling has left many car enthusiasts with contrasting opinions. What do you think about it?

14The Chery Exeed

This is a prototype of a new model that was launched in the Frankfurt Motor Show. For those who are wondering, let’s make it clear that this is not the Nissan Cherry. This is one of the pioneering models of the Chinese firm Chery. The automaker has said that they will sell this car in Europe over the next few years. It hopes to compete against the Nissan Qashqai, the UK's most-bought car. When it makes it to Britain, we expect this seven-seat SUV to face off against the Skoda Kodiaq because of the number of seats available. It will cost you around £19,000. We expect it to be a top seller among low-cost SUVs. Competitors in this segment should expect a fight that is bigger than the boxing match between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury!

13Volkswagen T-Roc

The first time we saw the new Volkswagen T-Roc was in an Italian media presentation. However, the high-riding vehicle was still showcased in Frankfurt. So what makes it special? Well, the terrible name makes it stand out, but that’s a story for another day. On a serious note, it is a handsome compact SUV that will certainly turn heads. It could prove to be more popular than England’s Harry Kane when it finally reaches the hands of UK buyers. The consumer can choose between four or two-wheel drive. The German car maker also offers both petrol and diesel engines. It is already on sale, going at a price of approximately £19,000

12The 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport

The last decade has seen many small hot hatches, and we think that this is among the most undervalued. Historically, the Swift Sport has been supremely reliable, frantic and fast. However, that might all change because this 2018 model is ready to go to war with the “golden boy” called the Ford Fiesta ST. The Japanese manufacturer has chosen a 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine because of pressure to reduce emissions. We’re still wondering if it can match the old rev-hungry 1.6-liter engine. When you’re on a demanding road, it should be a nimble option because it weighs less than a ton. You will need approximately £16,000 to acquire the new Swift Sport.

112018 Renault Sport Megane

Renault has also entered into this huge swimming pool with its Sport Megane. It is a track weapon that delivers 280bhp. It will come with a manual gearbox, and this will set it apart from the smaller Clio RS. The French carmaker wants to be a favorite of the most eager petrol heads. You will fall in love with this car if you are a hot hatch enthusiast. The approximate price of this vehicle is something less than £30,000.

102018 Honda CR-V

Honda launched the 2018 Honda CR-V in the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is an offroader that is family friendly and practical. The Japanese automaker will not be offered with diesel engines. It only comes with hybrid and petrol powerplants. This makes the CR-V different from other SUVs in the market (except Lexus).

9Land Rover Discovery SVX

The Land Rover Discovery SVX will cost you an arm and a leg. It is an offroader that will gladly take you wherever you desire. It is the ultimate offroad offering that has been created by the automaker’s Special Vehicle Operations team. Land Rover has armed this model with a 518bhp V8 supercharged JLR engine with a capacity of 5.0 liters. A potent standard Discovery normally offers 200bhp less. Now it’s time to tell you about the price. Just promise us that you will not jump off a cliff. It will cost you around £100,000 to own the new Land Rover Discovery SVX.

8The Dacia Duster

The Dacia Duster has been the perfect car for people looking for a cheerful, cheap and family-friendly SUV. The new 2018 model adds something more: class. A thorough styling overhaul, new wheels, and new lights have made it stop looking rugged to being more majestic. The automaker has also upgraded the interior of this vehicle. The Duster has maintained the same engines and features as before. How much will it cost? It costs around £10,000.

7The Subaru Impreza

The first impression that you get when you see the Subaru Impreza is that it is more civilized than the original hyped-up rally car. For an approximate price of £19,000, the manufacturer will be selling this vehicle in Europe and the United States. This family hatchback is offered with two petrol engines. When compared to the outgoing Impreza, it has bigger dimensions because it borrows its platform form the larger XV SUV. It boasts of having more boot space and interior space. It comes with an all-wheel drive system. The new Impreza is the right car for the UK's Septembers and treacherous winters. Can it replace the Ford Focus? We’ll let you decide.

6The Seat Arona

The Seat Arona lacks ground clearance, meaning that it certainly isn't a traditional SUV. Basically, it is a Seat Ibiza supermini that has been jacked up. It gives you the feeling of customization, the Arona's upper and lower body comes with 68 color combinations. For example, consumers can select a black, orange or black roof. The Seat is a Spanish brand that belongs in the VW Group franchise. So what makes the Arona special? Well, it is a practical small family car.

5The Audi Aicon

The Audi Aicon is one of the vehicles that stole the show with its stunning looks. You will be forgiven for thinking that it is an alien’s aircraft. It is an all-electric luxury car that is quite huge. When compared to the flagship A8, it is significantly larger, measuring 1,506mm tall, 2,100mm wide and 5,444mm long. It has 26-inch wheels. A single charge is enough to drive it up to 500 miles (800 km.) It is an autonomous sedan that blends features related to sustainability, digitalization, suspension, and the drivetrain. It lacks pedals and a steering wheel, but it comes with four doors. According to Rupert Snadler, the company’s former CEO, they are working on a limited production of this vehicle. You should expect a comfortable autonomous experience.

4Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package

An automatic expanding rear spoiler replaces the rear wing. The juice comes from a 500hp naturally-aspirated engine with a capacity of 4.0 liters. The top speed of this vehicle is 196mph. It only needs 3.9 seconds to sprint from 0-62mph. A manual six-speed gearbox comes exclusive.

32018 BMW Concept Z4

This concept has the looks of Cleopatra and Cinderella combined. Most people saw it in the Frankfurt Motor Show, but others might have seen it in Pebble Beach. This roadster was brought to life by a partnership between BMW and Toyota. It also shares its platform with the new Supra. If we could have it our way, we would have driven home with this impressive concept. All the same, the good news is that this vehicle already has a toned down production version.

2Mercedes-AMG Project One

This is a hybrid hypercar that uses the latest Formula 1 hybrid tech. Drivers have a pushrod suspension that turns better. The owner sits in its carbon fiber tub. It has active aerodynamics. The power comes from a V-6 engine that has a capacity of 1.6 liters; this is similar to the Merc’s F1 powerplant that produces four figures and above. It also spins to 11,000 rpm. The production vehicle will arrive in 2020. Do you think it can compete with other top-dog performers?

1Mini John Cooper Works GP

This extreme Works GP Concept has been made in commemoration of Mini’s achievements in the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally. What a way to celebrate success! It also identifies Mini’s date of birth by showcasing the number 0059.
