The 2018 BMW i3 Electric

The 2018 BMW i3 has to be the best environmentally-friendly car that the automaker has ever produced. The new BMW i3 is like a Cavaliers’ fan who is sitting among Warriors fans; yes, it is very odd when compared to other vehicles. It comes with an electric motor and carbon-fiber-intensive construction. Being odd might make it unique but its design is certainly polarizing. The range extender comes in form of an engine. There is no package of trim levels but it has new i3s and i3 models. The vehicle comes with one 33.2-kWh battery which offers 107 miles in the i3s or 114 miles of range in the i3. The base price of the i3 will cost $14,000 more when compared to the Nissan Leaf and around $8,000 more than the Chevrolet Bolt EV.

What are the pros and cons?

So what’s great about it? You will be forgiven for thinking you are in Iron Man’s suit when you see the futuristic interior of the i3. We love the agile urban handling, smooth acceleration, clever packaging, one-pedal driving, it is more stable, and of course, it has a range extender option. However, we don’t like that it has compromised rear seats, it’s still expensive, it has a polarizing style, and it is out of touch with most people’s needs. The range also falls short when compared to its more superior competitors like the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Bolt, and it doesn’t have the traditional BMW dynamism.

What’s new?

The i3s comes with more power, wider track, and a sport chassis. The new i3 has a refreshed exterior, standard full LED headlights, and a fresh iDrive 6 interface. In addition to this, the vehicle comes with a leather -cloth trim combination that is referred to as Giga Brown; it has Carum Spice Grey cloth and natural leather as well as new exterior colors: Imperial Blue Metallic and Melbourne Red Metallic.

How safe is the 2018 BMW i3?

This vehicle has been tested by the IIHS which gave it a perfect crash test score. It received the second-highest rating for front crash prevention, seats evaluation, and head restraints. Some of the standard features include six airbags, including side-impact airbags mounted in the front seats and a rearview camera. The vehicle also offers a Technology + Driving Assistant package as an option; it has frontal collision warning, pedestrian detection, emergency automatic braking, speed limit information as well as a stop and go functionality as part of the adaptive cruise control.
