There have been few television events that stirred as much interest as the final episode of the HBO’s Game of Thrones fantasy saga. In its eight seasons, it saw the rise and fall of empires both on and off the screen. Unknowns became stars, and a lot of people made some major bucks during its run. With the money comes the ability to buy those little niceties, like cars, that may have been previously out of reach. Of course, just because you can doesn’t mean that you have to and some of the biggest names in the series have some rather shabby rides while others shot the moon.

One of the most recognizable actors in the GoT cast before it even started was veteran actor Sean Bean who played Ned Stark in most of season one. Sean has had a habit of picking roles where he dies before the credits roll, and it was no different on Thrones, where he lost his head in the first season. As someone who has been in the business for a while, he has driven most of the fancy brands in the past, but his current ride of choice is a Ford Ranger for the simple reason that he doesn’t worry about it getting scratched.
An actor who came to prominence thanks to Game of Thrones was Kristofer Hivju, who played Tormund Giantsbane, a barbaric warrior with a sense of humor and a lethal tongue. For someone who plays such a rough and tumble character, his personal car is almost feminine in nature. He drives a Porsche Boxster that, with a 2.7-liter flat-6 engine, is definitely not a toy car but is nothing like the Hummer or Power Wagon that would seem to better fit his character.
Natalie Dormer was already a popular actress in England before she took on the role of the sultry schemer, Margaery Tyrell, on GoT. A true classic beauty in every sense of the word, she has a rather esoteric taste in automobiles. Here two favorites are a Toyota Prius and a fully restored, first year, 1963 Aston Martin DB5. With further roles in The Hunger Games and a recurring role on the TV series Elementary coming her way, who knows what she may add next.
Before Game of Thrones, Jason Momoa had experienced some minor success with parts on shows like Stargate Atlantis, but it was GoT that really put him on the map and led to starring roles in big-budget movies. With an off-screen persona very similar to the parts he plays on screen, he owns a selection of tough luxury vehicles, including a Range Rover and a Land Rover Defender, along with a wide variety of custom motorcycles.
With starring roles in such movies as The Book and Fast and Furious, Dutch actress Carice Van Houten has been able to enjoy a fairly successful carrier both before and after appearing on Thrones, and it would seem she is a true motorhead who enjoys spending her hard-earned cash on cars. Just a few of the sweet rides she has made her own include an Opel Ampera, an Aston Martin DB9, a Lamborghini Huracan, a Mercedes Benz G-Wagen, and an Audi S5 Coupe.
Alfie Allen, who plays the abused and oft besieged character Theon Greyjoy also happens to be the brother of singer Lilly Allen and the son of actor Keith Allen and movie producer Alison Owen. Though he has been seen around London driving a Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, it is not clear who it belongs to as Alfie himself has stated he doesn’t see much point in spending money on cars. That kind of attitude could get you abused.
Scottish actor Iain Glen cemented himself as the consummate bad guy playing the despicable Dr. Alexander Isaacs in the Resident Evil series but is considered by many to be one of the most gregarious actors on the GoT set. His character on the show, Jorah Mormont, is a very complex person, but Iain himself has a much simpler personality, as reflected by his choice of a Renault Scenic as his daily driver.
As one of the more veteran actors on the Game of Thrones, Lena has had more of an opportunity to build her car collection than most and has made some interesting purchases. Her stable includes an Audi A7, a Jeep Cherokee, a Tesla Model S, and a Chrysler 300. Rumor has it that she is as much of a demon behind the wheel as her character is on the show and has the traffic violations to prove it.
In the role of the sardonic but good-hearted dwarf Tyrion Lannister, Peter Dinklage has more than proven that huge talent can come in small packages. Given his small stature, it might surprise some that Peter actually enjoys driving and owns several cars that have been specially modified for his use. His current choice for a daily driver is an all-wheel-drive Chrysler 300 with a 340 hp 6.1 Liter Hemi head V-8 and 5-speed automatic transmission.
Sophie Turner’s character, Sansa Stark, has had one of the longest runs of any of the roles on Game of Thrones and, coupled with her recurring role in the X-Men series, has made it possible for the confirmed motorhead to buy some pretty nice rides. Her collection includes; a white Porsche Panamera, an Audi A7, a Volvo V90, and an Audi R8. These are her personal cars and doesn’t take into account the rides she shares with her main squeeze Joe Jonas.
With a record salary of $2 million an episode and roles in several feature films, Emilia Clarke has had ample opportunity to build a nice bank account as well as a sweet collection of rides. To say that she hasn’t wasted any of that opportunity is an understatement. Her collection includes; an Audi Q3, an Audi A8, a Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, a classic Mercedes-Benz 380 SL droptop and an Aston Martin DB9. It seems the Mother of Dragons really does enjoy flying high.
Another Fast and Furious crossover to Game of Thrones is Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays the beguiling confidant of Queen Daenery, Missandel. As strange as it may seem for an F and F alumnus, Nathalie isn’t really a car person and connects more with the hacker side of her role. Her car collection consists of a total of two vehicles, both of them Nissans, a Sentra, and a Versa.
Jack Gleeson played Joffrey one of the most reviled characters to ever exist in the universe, and that is saying a mouthful. Off-camera he was known as a quiet person and a bit of a bookworm, which may be why he has retired from acting to focus on academics. Luckily for a man so young, he had the opportunity to start a small but very fine car collection consisting of a Range Rover, an Audi A8, and a Mercedes GLC while on the show.
Many people considered Kit Harington’s character, Jon Snow, to be the face of the franchise to such a point that after he was killed off, they found a way to bring him back to life and turn the outcast into a king. Kit’s favorite ride is a Triumph Thruxton, but he and his co-star wife Rose Leslie do have some appreciation for four-wheeled vehicles also. Their collection includes; an F-Type Jaguar, an Infiniti Q60, and the wedding present that they bought for themselves a Land Rover Defender 90.
