The 2019 Cadillac XTS provides executive-level spacious accommodations, updated touch controls and a ride that keeps passengers at ease. Options take performance, handling, and comfort. Furthermore, there's a sport model that can do 0-60 in just over five seconds. An all-wheel drive is an option in most models for comfort and safety no matter what the weather in town or on the highway. It has a sleek appearance outside, headroom inside and even offers massage seats to pamper front occupants on long drives.
What comfort features make the 2019 Cadillac XTS an exceptional car to ride in?
The XTS is available with optional MagneRide which adds electromagnetically adjustable damping and a rear suspension which is self-leveling to provide a consistent, comfortable ride on most road conditions. 2018 was the year for ride updates, and they do make a noticeable difference on the 2019 XTS. The V-Sport edition provides a tighter suspension if that's what the buyer prefers.
What engines are available?
The preferred engine for most buyers is the 304 hp 3.6-liter V-6. A twin-turbo addition to the same engine provides the V-Sport with its 410 hp. Reviewers find this adequate for smooth acceleration to 60 in 6.8 seconds, but not quite enough for full-loaded takeoff.
Describe the sport package.
The V-Sport package starts with the Platinum trim features, adding the 410 hp twin turbo to make 60 mph in a little more than five seconds as opposed to 6.8 for the standard engine. It comes standard with all-wheel drive for a solid ride and handling when accelerating. It also receives a bit of sporty styling to match the performance, including 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and a V-Sport grille. Inside, there's a reconfigurable gauge cluster in exclusive V-Sport theme.
What drivetrain and suspension options are available?
AWD is available in some models and standard for the V-Sport, and MagneRide is available to balance the suspension further. A six-speed automatic provides adequate shifting for the entire range, but reviewers wish it could be more like competitors' transmissions with a few additional speeds.
Beyond comfort, what is the interior like?
There's plenty of space, tri-zone climate control, and front bucket seats with 22-way adjustments, power bolsters, and massage. There are plenty of convenience and storage features throughout the interior. Rear legroom is up to 40 inches, answering the expectation that this model can make large people comfortable. Leather and wood interior options create a luxury cabin feel, and a power sunroof opens wide enough for all passengers to enjoy. Cargo space is 18 cubic ft.
How are the active safety features?
There's a full complement of options including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic warnings and active lane control. The XTS also offers a surround-view camera system, a rear-view camera, parking assist, and driver awareness and assistance packages, depending on the trim level. As some have noted, though, other vehicles in the class have been offering all or some of these as standard features.
How's the infotainment system?
The CUE infotainment system is new as of 2018, offering an 8.0-inch touchscreen display, maps and navigation, driver profiles, Apple CarPlay, a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless device charging which was upgraded for 2019. At the Premium Luxury level a 14-speaker Bose Studio Surround package is included, providing an enhanced surround-sound experience designed for the XTS.
What trim packages are available?
In addition to the Base XTS, there are the Luxury package, Premium Luxury, and the Platinum and Platinum V-Sport packages. Several have all-wheel drive options. Specialized packages include armored, stretch and hearse configurations.
