The automaker made the 2019 Cadillac XT4 with the intention of winning over the younger generation, especially Millennials. They want them to fall in love with their cars and SUVs. This premium compact crossover has come in a little late in its fiercely competitive class. Many car enthusiasts will argue that this segment hit the market in 2003 when the BMW X3 was introduced. We are not complaining about its lateness because this is a marvelous vehicle. Furthermore, Caddy is a diva, and just like Beyoncé, it will argue that it was fashionably late!
What does the exterior offer?
This little SUV is “stubby.” It has short front and rear overhangs, and it appears tidy and lean when it is matched with its 20-inch aluminum wheels. It has more character than its larger sibling, the XT5. This is thanks to its new lighting treatments. Caddy wisely sticks with dark gray plastic instead of simulated skid plates; this is used to portray the idea of rugged utility.
Conversely, the XT4 is not suitable for rough terrain because it only offers a ground clearance of 6.7 inches. The XT4 weighs not less than 3,660 pounds. We recommend the Sport trim if you like a blacked-out look. The Premium Luxury or Luxury trim is for people who want shiny exterior detailing.
What is under the hood?
A turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0 L engine drives the XT4. It delivers 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. An upgraded 9-speed automatic transmission powers the front wheels of this vehicle. Caddy wants you to improve fuel economy, and that’s why the XT4 has an Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation. Gas mileage is raised with the automatic engine stop/start. The XT4 also reduces turbo lag thanks to its twin-scroll turbocharger. You’ll get 27 mpg as the combined-driving rating: this is 30 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city. This car rides on a multi-link rear and MacPherson strut front suspension.
How much will it cost?
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 has a starting price of $35,790. It comes with three trim levels: Sport, Premium Luxury and Luxury.
Which are the main rivals of the XT4?
I don’t envy the XT4’s current position because fighting its rivals is like being involved in a fight against Marvel’s Avengers. The 2019 Cadillac XT4 will go head-to-head with the Jaguar E-Pace, BMW X2, Acura RDX, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, Volvo XC40, Infiniti QX30, Audi Q3, and Lexus UX.
What do we know about its safety?
To get the full safety suite, you will have to purchase the Sport or Premium Luxury trims. The two trims are offered with optional Driver Assist features and Driver Awareness packages. They also come with a blind spot warning system with lane-change alert and rear cross-traffic alert. The company has not revealed the contents of the Driver Awareness packages, but it said that the XT4 would bring rear camera mirror systems and surround vision as well as standard Teen Driver technology.
Which technological features does the XT4 offer?
This vehicle offers a better infotainment system than earlier Cadillac versions. You would be forgiven for thinking that Steve Jobs turned the cabin into a big smartphone. The XT4 boasts of enhanced voice recognition technology, high-resolution screen graphics, near-field communications device pairing and faster response to inputs. In addition to center console and climate controls, it also comes with an embedded 4G LTE modem. It has an SD card reader and an optional navigation system. It has four USB ports to ensure you remain socially connected and charged up. The XT4 also boasts of an upgraded Bose premium sound system.
