The 2019 Acura TLX

The 2019 Acura TLX maintains its reputation for offering a beautiful blend of reliability, comfort, and performance. This sharp luxury mid-size sedan doesn’t offer much in terms of options and performance pedigree when compared to its rivals. The TLX might not offer the swagger of its competitors, but it heaps on many modest luxury features. However, the TLX is not to be underestimated. Its lower price tag is equivalent to a wicked “Mike Tyson” uppercut to its rivals. The MSRP ranges between $33,000 and $45,950. This price tag is likely to attract buyers who are shopping for a cheap car in this class. The TLX has 6- or 4- cylinder engines, but it is only the V6 models that offer all-wheel drive. It won’t provide a lot of excitement, but it isn’t a bad car either, especially when you go with the optional V6.

1

Is there anything new?

The Acura TLX came in 2015 as a member of the first TLX generation. V6 models now come with a fresh 19-inch wheel design. The four-cylinder model now features an A-Spec Appearance package. It also has other small updates like a new Platinum White Pearl color for the exterior.

2

What are the pros and cons of the new TLX?

This vehicle has a quiet, refined ride, a strong V-6, a responsive infotainment system, spacious back seats, a decent fuel economy, high-quality interior materials, and numerous standard safety features. The 4-cylinder also has an A-Spec option. The disadvantages include an underpowered four-cylinder engine, a dual-screen infotainment, no real gusto, a cramped interior as well as an anonymous, muted design. It also has a bland driving character despite being competent.

What do we think about the interior?

You will certainly get the impression of a premium sedan when you enter the 2019 Acura TLX. It feels like you are in a relaxing yoga session together with ten monks. In general, you will get the sense of a quality fit and finish. It has well-bolstered seats and a polished dual-screen infotainment setup. You will only get 34.5 inches for rear-seat legroom, this is little tight, but the TLX recovers with an impressive trunk room that is more than 14 cubic feet. The interior has affordable perforated genuine leather or standard faux leather. There is a dual-screen system in all models; it transmits relevant info for navigation, climate, and audio. You’ll have to get used to a complex traditional gear selector if you choose the four-cylinder TLX models. On the other hand, a push-button system is offered by the V6 models; it allows you to use a button to select Reverse, Drive, etc. Unfortunately, the TLX comes with a touch-based bottom screen which takes a long time to load simple commands like adjusting seat heat/ventilation or changing climate settings.

What does the exterior offer?

It is easy to notice the entry-level luxury sedan because it has an outstanding styling. It looks fresh and youthful thanks to its sharper LED headlights and clean pentagon grille. If the new TLX was a rapper, then it would be the fresh Machine Gun Kelly who recently destroyed Eminem in a diss song. Advance models come with a rear spoiler and LED fog lights while V6 models receive chrome accents and twin tailpipes in front and behind. The A-Spec TLX has 19-inch Shark Gray wheels, A-Spec-specific styling cues and matte-black diamond accents in the grille. Also, you can now get the TLX A-Spec in a cheaper 4-cylinder form that was previously reserved for V6 models.

5

Is this vehicle for me?

The 2019 Acura TLX is the perfect vehicle for you if you are looking for big value in a smaller luxury sedan. Apart from a sub-$34,000 starting price, it undercuts its rivals with a long list of safety features and standard tech that includes Apple CarPlay integration, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.

6

Who should avoid it?

If you are looking for a fun-to-drive vehicle or a high performer, then you are better off with a rear-wheel-drive Acura which happens to be more playful. If you like living life on the edge like Collin Ferrel, then you’ll probably be happier with a rival with a bigger badge appeal like a BMW 3 Series, an Audi A4 or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
