The BMW X6 xDrive35i

The BMW X6 xDrive35i is a luxury sedan with ground clearance and a higher seating position. The X6 has an eye-catching sporty look, a sleek-sloping roofline and it comes with two strong turbocharged engine options. The X6 is defined by its surprising agility, raucous power, and unrestrained styling. It has limited cargo space and rear-seat room thanks to its fastback design. You can enjoy more fine-tuning because of an available air suspension. The car also offers five distinct driving modes thanks to its system of standard Driving Dynamics Control. The xDrive35i comes with a starting MSRP of $65,250. It is as pretty as a dove, but it could be a problem when you go to a family meeting, and your granny and all your stubborn uncles want a ride – they’ll certainly lack space, and you can’t put them in the trunk together with the kids’ toys, can you?

What are the highs and the lows?

The advantages of the X6 include: strong engines, comfortable front seats, eye-catching style, strong acceleration, a refined interior as well as a comfortable and quiet ride. The disadvantages include: a tight cargo area, limited rear headroom, an expensive price tag, compromised rear seat and it is difficult to see out the back.

Which trims are available?

There are three major configurations for this fastback SUV. The xDrive50i is the range-topper – a 445 hp V8 turbocharged engine powers it and it comes in all-wheel-drive. The all-wheel-drive xDrive35i has a 300 hp turbocharged six-cylinder engine while the X6 sDrive35i has a similar engine but with rear-wheel drive.

Which features are available?

This car has many standard features; they include leather upholstery, adaptive xenon headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, 40/20/40-split folding rear seat, a power liftgate, 19-inch wheels, automatic wipers, driver-seat memory settings, a sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats as well as front and rear parking sensors. Also available are integrated smartphone apps, navigation, BMW's iDrive infotainment interface, a sound system with nine speakers and ConnectedDrive services that can be used to communicate during emergencies. The optional features are found in the xDrive50i; they include a sound system with 16 speakers, keyless ignition and entry, low-speed automatic braking, forward collision warning, automatic climate control that works in four zones, lane departure warning, upgraded front seats, surround-view camera and blind-spot monitoring.

How can we describe the driving experience?

The X6 has a great transmission and engine performance. When compared to its classmates, this car is pretty quick, like a cheater chasing after a mate in the mating season. However, the driver receives little communication from the steering. This car has a fast acceleration, using only 5.8 seconds from 0 to 60 mph in a quick 5.8 seconds. This performance SUV feels tall, though capable and stiff. The X6 offers a great ride quality for the class. Seat comfort is acceptable in the rear and excellent up front.

What do we think about this car?

The BMW X6 was launched in the 2008 model year. The styling was a blend of a four-door-coupe fastback and the X5 sport-utility. It received a redesign in 2015. Many automotive critics criticized this car for its many shortcomings. It doesn’t drive like a low-slung, sleek sports sedan and its sloping roofline has resulted into limited cargo space. Some critics even built an iron coffin for it, but it has made it to 2018 because of its staunch supporters.  Its capability and exclusive looks make it very expensive. In fact, it costs more than the X5 SUV although they are similarly equipped. The X5 also offers better visibility, towing capability, and more interior volume. The X6 can be a great choice if you won’t be hauling an armoire or transporting five passengers.
