The 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-class is still the good old German dude we all wish we could become when we grow up. As always, this Benz comes with some mind-blowing workmanship and meticulous attention to detail. There must have been many German guys who spent sleepless nights "pimping" this sedan because it has been seriously upgraded. You will notice changes on the range-topping Maybach siblings, the horsepower-addled S65 AMG, and S63 versions as well as the base-level S-class model. Mercedes Benz enthusiasts will definitely love the fact that the new S-class comes with polished powertrains. It also has an opulent interior as well as an improved autonomous-driving capability. However, it has a creeping passivity and feels quite heavy.
What's new about the Mercedes-Benz S-class?
When you take a closer look, you will notice that this sedan comes with brand new badges. Fresh V-8 and V-6 engines have been introduced in the S-class S560 and S450 versions. A hallowed S-class nomenclature has been brought back to life by the S560; this also means that it's time to say goodbye to the old S550. It now features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter unit in place of the original twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V-8 which happened to be bigger. This fresh engine produces 463 horsepower (14 more than the old 4.7) and 516 lb-ft of torque (same as before).
On the other hand, the six-cylinder S550e plug-in-hybrid model has been kicked out by the S450 which comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 362-hp. A nine-speed automatic transmission is used on both S iterations.
The changes don't stop there. A stronger edition of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine replaces the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 in the Mercedes-AMG S63.The torque remains at 664 lb-ft, but the horsepower jumps from 577 to 603. A nine-speed unit takes over from the S63's seven-speed automatic in the AMG. You will still receive 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque from the unchanged S65's twin-turbo V-12. There are also no mechanical alterations in the S650 which comes with a V-12 engine. The S560 is the new name for the V-8 Mercedes-Maybach; this new name refers to the fact that it embraces the same 4.0-liter V-8 as the non-Maybach S560.
Does it have any cool feature?
This brilliant sedan comes with an automatic cruise control that changes its speed to suit changes in the speed limit, intersections, toll plazas and curves. It uses GPS data to identify terrain. What this means is that the driver is not limited to highways, but he can also explore secondary roads when using the cruise control and its attendant steering-assist function.

What about the interior?
The interior of this sedan is something similar to an amusement park. It comes with a widescreen digital dashboard display; it brings together two 12.3-inch TFT screens. The screen is navigated using a tiny touch-sensitive nub or COMAND console-mounted wheel and touchpad. It is quite easy to use.
