The new MKZ won't turn heads or inspire appreciative stares at the stop light. But it is a great, dependable, safe sedan. Lincoln gave the 2017 MKZ a new front end and a new, more powerful engine, so the 2018 MKZ didn't get any updates or changes. It is a nice, mid-size, luxury sedan. It is for people who just want to get from point A to point B in comfort and safety.

How many different MKZ trim levels are there?

Lincoln is offering four trim levels for the 2018 MKZ. They are the Lincoln MKZ Premiere, MKZ Select, MKZ Reserve and MKZ Black Label.

What type of motor does the new MKZ come with?

The 2018 MKZ comes with a 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine. All trims come with the same engine. You can also get any of the trim levels as a hybrid car for no extra cost at all. If you want more power than the 4-cylinder or hybrid motor can give, you can upgrade any of the trims to a 3.0-L V6 twin-turbo motor that produces 400 hp. It will cost you an extra $2,500.

Is the 2018 MKZ a front-wheel-drive sedan?

The Lincoln MKZ comes standard as an FWD vehicle. You can upgrade to all-wheel drive for just under $2,000, though.

How much does the new MKZ cost?

The least expensive trim level, the FWD MKZ Premiere, has a base MSRP of $35,170. An AWD Premiere starts out at $37,060. The most costly MKZ trim level is the MKZ Black Label AWD. Base MSRP for that model is $49,720.

Does the new MKZ get good gas mileage?

The MKZ does get good gas mileage for a sedan. AWD MKZs get 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. FWD models get 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. MKZ hybrid models get 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

What type of infotainment system comes standard in the new MKZ?

2018 Lincoln MKZs come with SYNC 3 infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports and an 11-speaker sound system. Additional options include more USB ports, an electrical outlet to charge your wireless devices and a 20-speaker Revel stereo system.

Are there any hi-tech safety features on the 2018 MKZ?

The new Lincoln MKZ comes with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. Additional available options include lane keep assist, a forward collision warning system with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, a driver alert system, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, perpendicular and parallel parking assist, front parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and adaptive cruise control.

The gas-only Lincoln MKZs has 15.4 cubic feet of room in the trunk. That is about average for a mid-sized sedan. Hybrid MKZs only have 11.1 cubic feet of trunk space.

Has the 2018 MKZ done well in crash tests?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn't tested the 2018 MKZ yet. They gave the 2017 MKZ their IIHS Top Safety Pick award, though. The 2018 should have similar test results. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2018 MKZ a five-star Overall Safety Rating.
