The 2018 Cadillac XTS

Remember the golden age when rap was the "in thing," and Run DMC battled it out for popularity with NWA? If you experienced it then you will love the fact that we have something in store for you that will take you back in time, minus the nostalgia. And if you never did, well, here's to an amazing work of art. The big ol' Caddy is back, bigger and better. While most of us thought that the 2016 CT6 was here to chop off the XTS, we have been treated to a big surprise that's set for 2018. The elegant sedan from Cadillac is not only bigger and better; it is the story of an era wrapped in a fabulous piece of metal. Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen let's go back into the future.

What's new in the 2018 Cadillac XTS?

Cadillac has made significant changes to the XTS including the styling, the chassis, and the infotainment system. The major refresh promised by Cadillac last year is evident on the new grille, redesigned front seats and the new LED lights. The 2018 XTS is also shorter than the current model by 1.1 inches and has received a new rear as well as front fasciae. The commitment that Cadillac has shown to redesigning the XTS has left the new sedan resembling the CT6 closely. What's more, this slick ride can even be equipped with air suspension and magnetorheological shocks.

How is the 2018 Cadillac XTS's interior?

The story has not changed much on the inside of the XTS; it is pretty much the same lovely display of class as before. It features leather upholstery and wood finishes. Higher trim levels come with leather and microfiber suede smattered interiors that feature wood accents on the steering wheel and the central unit. These high-end trims have also received a 12.3-inch configurable display in place of the usual instrument cluster.

What safety features does the 2018 Cadillac XTS have ?

There is a wide array of safety equipment in the new XTS ranging from optional to standard features. For 2018, we have an optional Driver Awareness Package that comes with low-speed independent emergency braking and a safe following distance system. There are also lane change warnings and adaptive cruise control in addition to the autonomous braking system that works in reverse as well. All front wheel models are now capable of automatic parking in perpendicular or parallel slots. As for the very basic of safety equipment, there is a backup camera on every XTS regardless of the trim.

What's under the hood?

The 2018 XTS houses one of two available powertrains under the hood. First is the base 3.6 liter V-6 that produces 304 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. Next is a twin-turbo 3.6 liter V-6 that churns out 410 horses and a pulling power of 369 lb-ft. Both powertrains are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which is actually the only choice.

Which trims are available for the 2018 Cadillac XTS?

The 2018 Cadillac XTS is available in five trim levels. First is the base XTS which comes with Cadillac user experience and a Dual-zone Climate Control System at an MSRP of $46,395. Second is the Luxury followed by the Premium Luxury and the Platinum. Finally, the range-topping V-Sport Platinum which features Reconfigurable Gauge Cluster with three themes (Balanced, Enhanced, and V-Sport) as well as 20-inch aluminum exclusive V-Sport wheels. The Sterling Silver premium paint starting at $72,495.

Does the 2018 XTS have any worthy competitors?

The new Cadillac XTS's main competitors which also bring substantial offers to the table include the Kia Cadenza, Lexus ES, Acura RLX and Lincoln Continental. The XTS will be hoping to beat all these with its excellent ride quality thanks to the available magnetic ride control system.
