Ford has redesigned the Ford Focus for 2019. This compact car is more connected, tech-filled and spacious than before. The Focus is like a fertile mango tree that keeps on giving more fruits. It has been tweaked to meet the needs of different markets. The Dearborn automaker has already made it available in China and Europe. And we expect it to make its U.S. debut in 2019. The new Ford Focus will sell as either a 5-door hatchback, 5-door wagon or a 4-door car depending on the market. Ford is yet to announce the pricing, powertrains, trims or body styles that will be available in the U.S. market.

For China, it will be offered with a 1.5-liter EcoBoost and a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. A 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine and a 1.5-liter EcoBoost gas engine will be available in Europe.
What makes it tick?
The overall size of the global Focus hasn’t changed much, but it appears bigger than the current generation thanks to its longer hood. The front has a sportier look with lower fascia changes, new grille designs, and new headlights. The fourth generation model has an optional 8-speed automatic transmission that shifts fast; it improves performance and fuel efficiency. It has a new suspension and a new chassis. Ford says that the steering has a fresh power-assisted electric steering system that makes it more responsive and gives it an improved feel. The 2019 Ford Focus also comes with standard drive mode technology for the first time ever.
What does the interior offer?
Ford says that the interior of this vehicle is more “refined and chic.” You will get easier access to cupholders and more storage space thanks to a rotary gearshift dial and an electric parking brake. There is a quieter and faster air-conditioning and heating system inside the cabin. The redesigned center console offers driver comfort thanks to its new soft knee pads. The console is narrower, and it has buttons and switches that have been moved to the touchscreen.
What are the highs and lows of the 2019 Ford Focus?
We love that this vehicle has a completely active safety suite, a spacious and beautifully executed interior, a local wagon, excellent dynamics as well as a delightful 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine. On the negative side, it is unfortunate that the new Focus currently lacks a manual option for the Oz. We also feel that the auto transmission has a slight hesitation when pushing on and the exterior is a little bit homogenous.
Which cars will the new Ford Focus compete against?
The new Ford Focus will face off against the [search label="Subaru Impreza" items="Hyundai Elantra|Dodge Dart|Mazda3|Kia Forte"], Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze and Hyundai Elantra.
