Aren't Volvo sedans expensive?

That depends on which model and trim you get. The base trim S60 T5 Dynamic is actually fairly inexpensive with a starting price of just $33,950. However, the S60 Polestar starts out at $60,000. The S90 base T5 Momentum trim is a bit more pricey, starting out at $46,950. The S90 T6 Inscription, the most expensive trim level, starts out at $55,450.

Do the 2017 Volvo sedans have any new, exciting features?

Yes. The 2017 Volvo sedans have more powerful engines and something called the Pilot Assist System. The new Pilot Assist system includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist capabilities that help keep the car on the road if you let go of the steering wheel for up to 15 seconds.

Has the Volvo sedan gotten good safety ratings?

Yes. The 2017 Volvo S60 got a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and received the Top Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). They gave the S60 a Good rating, the highest possible rating, in crashworthiness tests and a Superior rating (with optional equipment) in the front crash prevention test. It only got an Acceptable rating for the headlights and child seat anchors - ease of use.
The S90 got a Good rating in crashworthiness tests and a Superior rating in the front crash prevention test along with the Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS. It only got a Marginal rating for the headlights and Acceptable for the child seat anchors ease of use. The S90 wasn't tested by the NHTSA.
