The 2018 Chevrolet Spark isn't roomy or luxurious. But it is a cute little car that is easy to maneuver on city streets and into tight parking spots. You won't have enough room to haul small pieces of furniture, but you will be able to fit groceries and pet supplies in it easily. Does the Chevy Spark get good gas mileage?

The Spark is very fuel efficient. On city streets, you can expect to get 29-30 mpg. On the highway, the Spark gets 37-38 mpg.

How much cargo space is there in the Spark?

The 2018 Spark isn't quite as roomy as some of its competitors. There are 11.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat when it is in the upright position. If you fold the rear seat down, you get 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space. If you need more room than that, you might want to take a look at the Chevy Sonic hatchback. It has 19 cubic feet of room with the back seat up, and 47.7 cubic feet with the back seat folded down.

How many trim levels is the Spark available in?

There are four different trim levels available for the 2018 Spark. You can get a 2018 Spark LS, Spark 1LT, Spark 2LT or ACTIV. Each trim is available with either a five-speed manual or Continuous Variable (CVT) automatic transmission.

Is there more than one engine available for the Spark?

The 2018 Spark only comes with one engine option. It is a 1.4-L ECOTEC DOHC 4-cylinder engine with Multiport Fuel Injection that produces 98 hp and 94 lb-ft of torque.

Is there a 2018 Spark with an electric motor?

There was a Spark EV, which had an electric motor. Chevy discontinued production of the Spark EV in 2016, though, to make room for the Bolt EV. The 2016 Spark EV can go up to 82 miles on a fully-charged battery and sold new for just over $25,000. You can buy a used 2015 Spark EV for right around $10,000.

How much does a new 2018 Chevy Spark cost?

The least expensive 2018 Chevy Spark has a base MSRP of $13,925. That is the LS with a manual transmission. The Spark LS with an automatic transmission starts out at $15,025. A 1LT with a manual transmission has a base price of $15,750. If you get the 1LT with an automatic transmission, the starting price will be $17,250. The most expensive trim, the ACTIV with an automatic transmission, has a base MSRP of $18,095.

Does the Spark come with an infotainment system?

Yes, the 2018 Spark does come equipped with a decent infotainment system. Chevrolet's MyLink interface system with Bluetooth connectivity is standard in all Spark trims. MyLink includes Apple CarPlay compatibility for your iPhone and Android Auto with smartphone connectivity for compatible smartphones. The Spark also comes equipped with a USB port and auxiliary input jack so you can stream music from your MP3 player, laptop or a flash drive, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and 4G LTE Wi-Fi with OnStar. All trims also come equipped with a six-speaker stereo system.

Does the Spark come with any of the latest safety systems?

Yes, the 2018 Spark is equipped with some hi-tech safety systems. All trim levels come with a StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, electronic traction control, Hill Start Assist, four-wheel antilock brakes and a rearview camera. Forward Collision Alert, Rear Park Assist, and a Lane Departure Warning system are available options for the Spark 2LT.

How well has the 2018 Spark done in crash tests?

The 2018 Spark hasn't been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). They did do some testing on the 2017 and 2016 Spark models, both of which got "G" or "Good" ratings on the Moderate overlap front and Side Crashworthiness tests. They gave the 2015 Spark their Top Safety Pick award.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hasn't tested the 2018 Spark, either. They haven't tested the Spark since 2015. That model was given an Overall Safety Rating of four out of five stars.
